Did you know that “getting organized”

Did you know that “getting organized” is routinely one of the top 3 New Year’s resolutions? What you have to keep in mind is that getting organized is not something that you do and it’s finished. Getting organized is one thing; staying organized so that you don’t have to keep making that same resolution every year is something completely different. I always tell clients that getting organized is akin to getting in shape. You may lose weight for a particular occasion, like a school reunion or wedding, but you’re going to gain it all back if you don’t make permanent changes to your routine. You can’t go back to eating donuts for breakfast and assume you’ll stay the same shape. You can spend a day cleaning out a closet or organizing your pantry but until you commit to keeping that order and maintaining it daily, you’re going to have another mess on your hands.
Remember that Rome wasn’t built in a day so getting organized and getting in shape are both going to take time to maintain as well. Making small changes every day is the most effective way to make long lasting changes.
